Asphalt

Long-lasting in Canada's climate

Always a very popular choice — and for good reason. Asphalt shingles are durable, affordable, come in a wide variety of colours, and can be repaired over time. Their lifespan tends to run longer here thanks to Canada's cooler climate.

Cedar

30–50 years

If beauty is what you're after, this may be the shingle for you. Cedar has a blond or reddish colour when installed and mellows to a light gray over time.

Beyond its looks and durability, cedar acts as an extra layer of insulation, helping reduce heating and cooling costs — so in cold Canadian winters it helps keep heat from escaping your home. It takes a little longer to install than asphalt, but stands up well to rain and storms.

Slate

Slate is much heavier than a standard asphalt shingle, so it requires a strong roof structure to carry the weight. In return, it needs little to no maintenance and can last 100+ years when properly installed.

A sleek, common favourite for many reasons. It's easily recyclable for eco-conscious homeowners, lightweight and easy to install, and earns high performance ratings with insurance companies for its durability and fire resistance.

And despite what you may have heard, metal is no noisier than any other roofing material. It beautifies your home and adds tremendous value — lasting 50+ years when properly installed.

Clay Tiles

Extremely durable

Around for generations — proof of how well they withstand the test of time. Clay tiles bring a unique look that only improves as they age. They won't fade from rain or look sun-bleached after a hot summer.

Clay also acts as a form of insulation, keeping your home cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Like slate, it's heavier than asphalt and needs a strong roof structure to support the weight.

Copper

Virtually maintenance-free

A great choice for any environment. Copper is a natural, very durable material that won't corrode and needs no upkeep — very much the hassle-free option. It can be kept its natural colour or left to weather to a classic green patina.
